ASNY at a glance

Back To The 80‘s... The Totally Awesome Musical played at the Ben Franklin Chamber at the Centrepointe Theatre from August 11 to 14, 2010. The musical is a mix of all the wonderfulness that we loved and hated about the 80‘s. The music, the leg-warmers, the blue eye shadow, the mullets and the parachute pants. The 80‘s were a great era for music and movies. ASNY’s production was a total success and attracted its biggest crowd since it started in 2005. Thanks to a wonderful cast and crew made of crazy kids from 9 to 99.
Seussical The Musical opened on July 29, 2009 at l’école élémentaire catholique Sainte-Trinité in Clarence-Rockland for 10 performances closing August 8 of the same year. This musical based on the works of Dr. Seuss provided an incredible story line to work with combined with melodic songs and fantastic costumes. This musical was a great success with people of all ages.
Urinetown the Musical opened under the Big Top at Le Parc Du Moulin in Clarence-Rockland July 31st, 2008 for 10 shows closing August 9, 2008. The show was performed under the tent on the beautiful banks of the Ottawa River. The crowd was taken by surprise - not knowing what to expect - you know, with a name like Urinetown and all ...! Not only were they impressed with the performances of the singers and actors on stage, but they simply did not expect the show to be that great. ASNY introduced the current summer camp format that allows campers to perform along side talented professionals and amateurs of a semi-professional Musical Theatre Production.

Songs For A New World, music & lyrics by Jason Robert Brown and directed by Brendan Daily was played for 10 performances under the BIG Top at Le Parc Du Moulin in Clarence-Rockland from July 19 to 28, 2007. The show was a total success and that year ASNY introduced its first summer camp that was conducted over the weekends and culminated by ASNY’s own creation of the Youth Parade Marches On Broadway, also performed under the Big Top.
ASNY made its debut in the Musical Theatre Ottawa scene September 7, 2006 producing its first music - Putting It Together by Stephen Soundheim and directed by Melissa Cabral. The production employed professional performers and production staff. Although assistance was low ASNY was quick to make a name for itself and was quickly recognized for the quality of its work. Putting It Together set the standards for the things to come. Our Previous Shows

Oliver! opened at the new Centrepointe Studio Theatre August 3, 2011 and played in front of a full house for 5 consecutive performances.  Our young stars aided by a cast of season veterans made us relive the emotions of Charles Dickens’ classic Oliver Twist.  From the adorable Oliver Twist played by Madox Terrell to the meanest Bill Sikes played by Marc Lessard, Jennifer Fontaine and the entire ASNY team took us on a journey that most of us will never forget.  Oliver was by far ASNY’s best work to date and we cannot wait for next year’s showcase production of  Peter Pan.

Peter Pan opened at the Centrepointe Studio Theatre August 8, 2013 and played in front of a full house for 5 consecutive performances.  The show portrayed tons of characters and provided lots of opportunity to have our talented cast of seasoned veterans and talented campers perform brilliant dance numbers, and beautifully written music. When people think about fairy tales, they often dismiss them as fluff, but Peter Pan is so much more than that. This show truly spoke to us and our production surely demonstrated that fairy tales are made-up of special moments of truth and magic. Thanks to all involved!
